THE JUMP DEVILS
The Jump Devil’s sound harks back to the days of the 1940’s – just before the arrival of rhythm and blues and rock and roll. The band’s leader John Walton, started The Jump Devils over ten years ago with various line ups. The current line up consists of Chris ‘Stibbo’ Hanger on lead vocal and harp, John Walton on upright bass and vocals, Mark ‘Harpo’ Greenway on guitar and Alf Mott and the drums.
The sound of The Jump Devils is a unique blend of blues, swing and early rock’n’roll. Their influences are from the likes of Louis Jordan, Freddie King and Hollywood Fats. John Walton has also written and arranged number of original tunes which the band are slowly incorporating into their act and have an album due out this year.
The Jump Devils have gained quite a following around Melbourne with the Blues and Rock’n’ Roll fraternity, performing on the Mornington Peninsula, inner city Melbourne, and Victorian regional areas.
